Outside Reading Response: A Stolen Life

This week, I started the book A Stolen Life, by Jaycee Duggard.  It is a memoir of her time being kidnapped.  If anyone doesn't know who Jaycee Duggard is, she was stolen by a man named Phillip and his wife Nancy.  She was missing for 18 years, and when she was with them, Phillip sexually abused her almost every day.  In her book, she talks about the day she was kidnapped,  the days where she sat alone, and everything else.
I'm about a third of the way done with it, and so far it has been an eye opener.  It makes me realize that any kid can get stolen, even walking to the bus, which happened to Jaycee.  It also makes me realize how fortunate I am not to have my life stolen like hers.  One thing I like about her writing, she writes like it was happening to her, then at the end of the chapter she writes a "reflection" about that chapter and that time.  I really think y'all should read it because it makes you realize how fortunate we are.

  2. I saw this on a magazine awhile back and it was so upsetting. Another one of my friends is reading this book and she told me that it was amazing. I think this is a book that I will be reading in the near future. Good job writing! I agree that we are all fortunate not to have a life like that.
